The Arts Contest
Global Friendship Links (Pen Pal Program)
South Bend Area (IN) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated
The International Trends and Services facet has partnered with Tamela White of the Dreams Young Ambassador Leadership Club and Susan Mgomezulu of The Church of Jesus Christ, Malawi Africa to initiate a Pen Pal Program with young girls, ages 10 to 14. The young girls will communicate with each other through letter writing or videos.
This project is part of the Chapter's Umbrella Program where all five facets will participate.
Programs
The Links, Incorporated has a long tradition of promoting and engaging in educational, civic and inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community at large. The cornerstone of our service is our five programming facets — Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. Through our facets, we implement programs and initiatives that address the most critical needs of underserved communities. Annually, we impact the lives of more than 3 million people at home and abroad.
The International Trends and Services facet completed its goal to send Survival Kits to Women in Africa. The project brought both Link Members and community volunteers together accomplish this goal. Enough items were collected to fill 50 survival kit bags.Two large boxes were prepared and shipped to Malawi Africa. The shipping cost was donated.
Thanks to the community and members of the South Bend Area (IN) Chapter for making this program a success.
